Fundamental Baseball

Desired Outcome/Goals

• Players will learn beginning fundamentals of baseball/softball. For the first half of the season, all of the teams will come for an hour to practice baseball drills (throwing, catching, hitting, base running, etc.). The players will break up into stations and rotate to different planned activities. We will need one parent per athlete to help run these stations! For the second half of the season, the teams will play games against each other.

• This fundamental baseball league will build on experience and knowledge of the game learned in Incrediball, but is also a great starting point for anyone. Players will strengthen their knowledge and fundamentals of baseball. In addition to fundamentals, players will learn the rules of the game, as 3 outs are introduced. Player pitch will also be used later in the season, along with catchers in full gear.  Each team will have two practices and five games. 

• This fundamental softball league will build on experience and knowledge of the game learned in Incrediball, but is also a great starting point for anyone. In addition to fundamentals, players will learn the rules of the game, as 3 outs are introduced to switch from fielding to batting. We will also introduce player pitching at this level for older ages. Each team will have two practices and five games.

Rules

• Play 1 hour or 3 innings
• Bat the roster for each inning (not based on outs)
• If called out, player is out
• All players fielding

• 15 minute practice prior to games 
• 1/2 inning cannot start after 60 minutes of play. 
• 3 outs or max 5 runs per inning
• Hitters can advance multiple bases, until ball thrown into infield.
  
• No base overthrow advancing
• All kids play in the field, all will be in batting lineup
  

• 1st part of season;

• Coach Pitch, 3 strikes and then use tee, no walks.  Catchers in full gear. 

• • 2nd part of season;

  • Player Pitch with coach pitch after 4 balls, 3 strikes is a strikeout, Catchers in full gear. 

• Practice/Play 1.5 hours

• 3 outs per inning
• If called out, player is out
  
• No walks, Only coach pitch strikeouts
• Player pitcher and catcher: Older girls only  (2nd / 3rd / 4th grade)

• 5 underhand coach pitches, then tee
